News Release:
Digital Marketing Institute plans to deliver certification programme through four universities in Malaysia and expects to educate 2,000 students in 2013.
Irish digital marketing training provider, the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI), has signed a major new partnership deal with Specialist Knowledge Centre of Malaysia to deliver DMI digital education and professional certification programmes in Malaysia and across the entire ASEAN region.
This brings to three the number of strategic alliances the company has agreed following two other deals in South Africa and India announced last month.
The Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation recently published a report telling us that there are currently 4,500 unfilled jobs in the IT sector in Ireland (digital is usually lumped in with "IT"). Why is this the case? Why is it that, during one of the worst recessions to hit this country, we still cannot fill these roles when so many skilled people remain unemployed?
While there is no simple answer, one of the major issues that underlies this problem is that the education system is failing us all. The educational goals that schools and colleges are clinging to are woefully out of date.

There are certain essential basics in your email marketing that have to be absolutely right in order for your message to get through and be read. While the content will change from issue to issue, you still have to ensure that your email gets through the SPAM catchers, is opened by the recipient and is then read. An added bonus is for it to be forwarded on to the recipients’ colleagues.
Facebook is testing a new “want” button. This testing is being in the USA with a limited group of retailers. Basically what they are doing in allowing the retailers’ customers to create “wish lists” (which are essentially a shopping list).
This Facebook Collections feature (it’s real name) is designed to help retailers market and promote their goods. What happens is that, in addition to clicking the 'like' button, visitors and browsers can also 'collect' and 'want' products from the retailer. These products that are “wanted” then appear on their timeline (as well as in their friend's timeline).
While it is generally agreed that the sales of iPhone’s has faltered over the past couple of months due to “rumour and speculation”, Apple will likely sell shed-loads of iPhones once they launch of the iPhone 5 (which is expected to launch on September 12th. But if Apple ships its next generation iPhone on September 21, as expected, sales could be even higher.

With social media being a predominant part of anyone's online experience, it is considered crucial for businesses to have their own Facebook Pages. Here are top tips for a Facebook-for-business-novice on how to ensure your Facebook marketing is successful.
Please add your own tips in the comment field below!
1. Choose a correct category
When creating a business page, you will be asked to identify a category for your page. The available options are:
Local Business or Place
Company, Organization or Institution
Brand or Product
Artist, Band or Public Figure
Entertainment
Cause or Community
The category you choose is important as it will help you rank in more relevant searches and provide relevant information fields on your Page.
2. Decide whether to post updates as yourself or a company
On a Facebook Business Page admins are able to post updates either as themselves, or as a Company. (On new Facebook Pages this setting can be easily switched in Manage > Use Facebook as ...)
Normally large and international companies get better response from their Facebook community if they write updates as a Company, while local businesses can benefit from the immediate proximity to their customers in the real world and bring that local community feel online by posting as themselves.
To make up your mind on what option would work best for your business don’t be afraid to experiment – try both types of communication and monitor the results. It won’t be difficult to spot the difference in the interaction.
3. Create an engaging landing page
Use applications like the discussion board and YouTube video box to add more engaging

Ark° is a not for profit movement encouraging Acts of Random Kindness. It began in the small town of Holywood, Co. Down just 3 years ago. The idea was that you performed ‘one Act of Random Kindness (an Ark°)’, every time their brand was worn. The clothing acted as a reminder to be kind, while allowing the wearer to look good doing it.
Each piece of clothing carried a message, ‘inspiring others to be kind and getting them to think differently about the way life should be lived. It's a symbol for a new way of life through a new kind of clothing’.
In an attempt to spread the Ark° message across the world the founder travelled to the US. This was the beginning of the end for ArkHQ.com (Ark°). They merged with the American Ark (ark.com) midsummer. However after a short time it became clear for all to see that their expectations differed greatly thus resulting in a split after 3 months.
As a result the Irish Ark° had to forfeit its website and the founder Cameron Stewart, was ‘worn thin’. Losing the website for him ‘was simply the icing on the cake that tipped me over. I do wish it hadn't ended this way but I'm sure there's a reason for it somewhere’.
Little did he know through Facebook and the dedication of his fans Ark° lived on. Its movement can be seen on the streets of Dublin and its fans, all over the world.
