The battle for mobile search is hotting up as the next battlefield for all the big tech players and Google as always are in prime position to take the lion’s share of the market. One area that Google has been especially keen on getting users to embrace are their voice activated searches which many people think will form the future of search but the awareness among the general public has been low to date with many regular punters unaware that those services even exist on their phones. With that particular problem in mind Google have just launched a series of huge ads around London that are incredibly smart and that seek to engage users with the service and get them thinking about mobile voice search in a whole new way. It’s especially smart advertising because when I first saw it I thought it was in another language and I had to have a good long think about it before I actually got the message. It’s interesting to see a brand like Google (of course done through an agency) engaging in such innovative billboard advertising which is a million miles from their online home but fair play to them for such an innovative campaign…

They take a while to work out don’t they? That is the best type of advertising. The type that makes you stop and think and really take time to absorb the message. You can be sure the point they are trying to get across sticks with you after watching these. Very smart marketing indeed.
