Linkedin Updates What Could Become Their Most Important Feature – Events

Linkedin is the ultimate networking tool for professionals but one area that has always let it down is its integration with real world events. They recently improved their app which allows users to interact far more in the real world and today comes the great news that they are drastically overhauling their events section of the site. Despite being live since 2008 you’ll struggle to find many major events using the functionality, unlike over on Facebook where a similar feature has been a big deal for the last couple of years. With this update Linkedin are really trying to fix some of the problems that most conference goers have, such as never missing that must attend event and being able to search in a smarter way for events in their local area.

Attendees you may want to meet

This is the one feature that could change the whole game for Linkedin because it will allow people to browse people attending the event in advance and matches up users based on their profiles. Why take the chance of not meeting that perfect business connection at an event when you can browse attendees at your ease in advance.

Doing All The Hard Work For You

Linkedin are really trying to take all the heavy lifting out of attending events for you with this update including adding it to your calender, providing you with social media sharing options and sending you a link to the map. With all of this available through the mobile app as well you’ll be far better equipped in the future.

Promoting Events

Although they have not announced it with this update, you would imagine that Linkedin will open a huge new revenue stream by allowing conference organizers to run super targeted adverts for events at their users. This will be a dream ad format for all event promoters around the world trying to target business users.
